Rowena Montoya

Rowena Montoya, Vice President, brings to GG+A over 20 years of experience in advancement services, prospect management and research, annual giving, and more. She has demonstrated success in fundraising program design and implementation, as well as a thorough understanding of higher education fundraising and donor relations procedures, practices, and principles.

Rowena Montoya is the Director of Central Development Services at the University of California, San Francisco, where she has managed CRM conversion, email marketing tool implementation, and other key projects for University Development and Alumni Relations. Rowena additionally facilitated the merger of development operations with UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland Foundation by coordinating the migration of their legacy data to UCSF’s fundraising systems. Her previous roles with UCSF included Director, Grateful Patient Program and Associate Director of Prospect Development.

Prior to this role, Rowena served as the Assistant Director, Parent Philanthropy & Engagement at the University of California, Berkeley. She coordinated parent fundraising efforts, including volunteer management, direct response marketing, reporting and analysis, stewardship, and personal solicitation of leadership gifts. Additionally, Rowena oversaw a peer solicitation program and partnered with campus units to ensure strategic solicitation of parent prospects across the university.

In her previous role as Manager, Young Alumni & Student Philanthropy at UC Berkeley, Rowena led the first $100K senior gift campaign in campus history and managed the design and installation of the Senior Gift Walk in an effort to support stewardship of senior gift donors.

She earned her B.A. in Legal Studies and Public Policy from UC Berkeley.
