Henry Hillman, who passed away this April, is remembered as humble and gracious, having largely avoided the spotlight as he transformed organizations through his generous gifts. Some of his landmark gifts included a $10 million gift to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, a $10 million gift to Carnegie Mellon University, and a $20 million gift to start the Hillman Fellow Program for Innovative Cancer Research at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, the largest single gift in the university’s history.
